You have to have a HS diploma to get in, not GED. This makes the military have some of the strictest hiring standards in the nation.
To be an officer you have to have a degree
To become an e6 higher education is recommended
Certain ranks enlisted and officer requires congressional approval
Good portion of soldiers are a going for higher education. (do not have figures on me but can repost them)
I intend on being a solder. I am not unintelligent I have a associates of arts degree. I am currently getting a bachelors of arts degree.
The point made in this statement from Violent Acres could apply to any job title. No one will say “The Investment Bankers are Stoo-pid.” however there are several unintelligent investment bankers. the same goes for politicians, scientists, religious leaders, those of the blogging community, university teachers, and even presidents. To think that ALL troops are stupid is ridiculous, because there are so many stupid people around now that its a damn shock if no idiotic or moronic or stupid people appear in a field of employment.
Similarly there are many intelligent people in all of those fields.
I also defend public school teachers. I do not however think that public school administrators should be given jobs. Both of my parents are public school instructors both poses a masters degree one in art history the other in marine biology. There are few things I hear from them that don’t involve there Administrators telling them to do something that goes completely against everything they learned in school. Think very hard on how much we all pay in taxes and grants to school for improvements and text books. Do you ever see ANY of that money spent on the things that they say they will be? I never did. My parents never did. My brother, who is still in highs school, never still hasn’t. Where does it all go you ask. Well my guess is straight in to the pocket of the local public school administrators. If that’s not it, then ware?
