VA: When It Comes to Money, Don’t Play Nice
Feb 27th, 2007
Americans crack me up.
When it comes to making small purchases, they have no problem searching for the best possible price. They compare tags in department stores, scour ebay for hours, […]
Original post: When It Comes to Money, Don’t Play Nice

ooohhh delicious retort, V. what’d you guys end up doing?
I love every bit when you talk about real estate stuff!
Real Estate Tips :D
Loving it.
I also love it when you talk finances. I’m one of probably a zillion people who have a few dollars, but don’t know what to do with them. It says a lot when I’m getting some really good financial advice from “Some Random Person” rather than the ton of books or brokers who are trying to get me to buy into their ideas. Don’t stop!
I hate to admit that you’re right, you _can’t_ play nice when it comes to money. Unfortunately, I think it’s something that everyone has got to learn from their own mistakes. I think I managed to learn it on my first two vehicle purchases, but I’m not far enough into my third to know for sure.
Thanks for the reminder.
what’s the difference between VA and AV?
“Americans crack me up”
I knew you were a genius…
…with a sense of humor.
yeah no hard feelings er…mericans but uhhhhh…
90% of yous are uhhhh… yeah you get the point.
Glad ya’ll get the joke.
Anyway, I’m an aspiring homeless person… (no joke)
any advice?
*aplogizererzz to the haters for multiple posts*
Emerild you are extremely annoying
That’s funny, I was hoping that V would post something like this. Last night my wife and I were talking about selling our rental house and getting into the business of flipping houses. I’d love to see some real sound advice on real estate from V. I wish she was available for contact, I’d love to talk to her one on one about this kind of stuff. Well, that and the general stupidity of the world.
What the hell, is this gonna become a real estate blog? I think her one of “internet’s funniest bloggers” revoked, I’m falling asleep. Oh and Emerild…you’re still an idiot.
I’m sorry, I meant SHOULD be revoked
I LOVE your financial advice, V. That’s why I started reading your blog in the first place.
@9 & 11
Thanks… you two brighten my day as well.
Like Bob & I like to say:
fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke.
You AND Bob can kiss my ass :)
Gladly.
Anyway… I realy don’t intend on annoying you folk.
I already admitted to being an idiot… what’s with all
the reinforcement. I could give or take the financial
advice but the homeless living advice would probably
really help me. I’m trying to downsize and simplify
for my own sanity. Jenn & Mesjogge, what can I do
to win a little… at least respect. I’m not asking for
hugs and kisses (though those would be nice), just
a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Or… are ya’ll just easily annoyed?
The only reason you annoy people, Emerild, is because half your posts don’t have anything to do with much.
As to the comment about you being “homeless”… If you really ARE homeless, instead of sitting on a computer (at a library perhaps) why don’t you go find a job, OR if you do have a job, work more hours? (or even a second job?) The only thing a homeless person really has to do is work. 18 out of 24 hours a work could definitely get you enough money in a few months to at least have a crappy apartment with no furnishings.
V’s blog is for whatever she wants to talk about. If you don’t like the couple blogs that V mentions her real estate stories, then I suggest you stop reading, jenny984. That’s the only logical thing to do. V’s advice can be very helpful, but I guess you need to catch the point of the stories to know it’s advice.
O, and just for curiosity, Emerild. Do you format your entries like that so it looks like they have substance, or because you don’t know what a paragraph is, or because you just do? This is a relatively serious question.
Oooh if you don’t like it, don’t read it…I never thought about it that way, thanks. Geez I’m sorry that I refuse to take financial advice seriously from someone who’s constantly talking about how loaded she is (people that really have money certainly aren’t desperate enough to brag about it over and over in hopes that it will earn them some kind of credibility) but I guess maybe I’m just not “catching the point” of V’s complex and prosaic writing. (??)
Anyway, thanks so much for being here, I don’t know what I’d do without your “logical” advice.
I certainly don’t format my entries like this
so they appear to have substance. It just sort
of happens this way. Anyway, thank you alisha
for communicating with me like there’s a slight
possibility I’m not as bad as everybody seems
to think. I’m not saying I’m homeless yet.
I’m actually entertaining the thought of becoming
homeless. I think everyone should try it for at least a
small period of time. Just to foster understanding. I’m not
opposed to work. I’ve held jobs, but most of them
have brought out the ‘borderline schizotype’ personality
in me… and I’m not out to hurt anyone. There are plenty of
people that need the jobs more than I do. Like poor
families with children… ya know… mouths to feed.
I actually come from a solid middle class family
and believe I have it way too good. I’ve been
accused of being ‘crazy’ whatever that means.
I just want, and i know this sounds cheezy as hell,
a sort of inner peace which I haven’t found from
any of the jobs I’ve had.
I am looking into taking care of people with developmental
disabilites. Now, I’ve been diagnosed with various mental
illnesses, but I’m not physically disabled. So I do plan on
finding some meaningful work in the somewhat near future,
but I do want to try being homeless. I’m not trying to belittle
or degrade anyone… I’m trying to gain a well-rounded
understanding of the human condition.
The common ‘american dream’ hasn’t worked for me in the
least bit… so I’m trying to forge my own version. If I’m going
to hold any type of job… it has to be one that involves actually
helping people that absolutely need the help. Now, I am
beginning to look into that, but I have to take it a little slow
cuz my mind has been seriously damaged (I mean real brain
damage) and that has rendered me extremely sensitive to
outside stimuli.
Anyway… here I go about me me me again…
I want to hear more about V.
Thanks alisha for the sincerity, I truly do appreciate it.
She’s not so much talking about how loaded she is, she merely states she financially stable. Yes, she does seem to have more than enough on top of that, but I don’t see it as bragging.
I make minimum wage, and I’m financially stable. I hardly work much on top of that, but I still afford whatever I want. Not important.
“If you don’t like it, don’t read it.” Yes, it is logical. And your sarcasm makes me laugh, by the way. You aren’t very good at it. Anyway, if you don’t take her seriously, you think all she does is brag, and all you do is complain about it, then why waste your time reading it? That’s all I was trying to say. Generally, one would want to read something because they enjoy it, not because it causes their blood pressure to rise (or whatever it is in your case). So I reiterate, yes, it is logical.
You make minimum wage?? Has V’s financial advice not been working out for you? Not suprised :) Don’t you worry your pretty little head about my blood pressure honey, it’s just fine and I’m glad I could make you laugh. I’m really sorry my sarcasm isn’t good enough for you, I guess I don’t have as much time to practice my biting blog rebukes as you do, seeing as I have a real job.
I meant what I said about your comment being logical…I just think people like you are funny, defending someones honor who you don’t even know personally and who most likely could give a shit less what you OR I think of her.
Heh, real job. What do you define as a “real job?”
Seeing as I make enough to pay my rent, pay for school, pay for food, pay for utilities, pay for the gas to put in my car, build a very nice savings account, and still have more than enough to go out and have a great time, I don’t think my minimum wage is so bad. Considering it is probably 3 times more money than you think is. This isn’t important.
You’re sarcasm was nicer there. I see you practiced in the time you weren’t at work.
No, my reason for “defending” her, though honestly that’s not what I saw it as, isn’t logical, cuz I don’t know her, and she doesn’t care what we have to say. However, you’re ‘people like you’ comment was out of line. I’d be intrigued to meet you, and show you why. But that would be … creepy, no?
