For me, grocery stores are a bad luck. Too many times to count, I’ve unexpectedly been forced into confronting my past among jars of tomato sauce or packages of raw […]
Original post: The Point of it All

“Try doing after you’ve both unwittingly reached for the same roll of toilet paper.”
“Go ahead and take, we both know you’re full of shit”=)
Penance is an interesting thing, as some things you can never truly repay. And then there are some who will always keep taking. Just have to live and learn, and move on with your life. Sure, help and repay when you can, but got to keep in mind to not get burdened by them.
“Penance.” I’ve felt the same way for a long time. Now I just feel like an odd combo of mush and ooze. Who says apologies don’t mean jack?
Hmm, am I the only one who finds it a bit strange that two of V’s major love interests worked at the same place and were on speaking terms?
Also, she never clarifies exactly what she was apologizing for, or why she feels she has to apologize to a lot of people.
Yeah agree with Robin. I think V is either full of shit (again) or mixing fiction with fact.
She seems to live in some really small town and has never left. Somewhere in Texas? Where V where? And why don’t you move FAR away???
I’m pretty sure V is somewhere on the east coast, in the 15 and already a wife thing she said Derrick crossed 3 state lines to see her. That would be pretty hard to do anywhere outside of the east coast.
Of course it is a mixture of fact and fiction. She has said that herself. She changes the details so that she can’t be found by her stories. I still don’t understand why it is so important that her personal details are known. Who cares? Why are they necessary in order to enjoy her posts?
I don’t think it’s necessary for it to be “facts” for you to enjoy her posts. I think you just have to enjoy inconsistency and really NOT very remarkable writing. I think she’s a college student practicing her skills.
Either I’m easily amused or people don’t get what anecdotes/blogs are, or both…
Blogs aren’t exactly a medium for professional writing, and expecting as much is just plain stupid. To me, it looks about the same as geeks nitpicking at a sci-fi movie, or critics expecting an Oscar-winning movie from something obviously made as low-brow entertainment.
Anyways, guess its both, I find the entries/responses kind of amusing.
Dance, monkeys, dance!
heh
“But alas, unless one desires a diet that consists of nothing more than a steady stream of burgers and fries, one must periodically travel to the grocery store.”
Sami’s Mushroom & Stinging-Nettle Soup (For unbelievably many persons for unbelievably cheap)
What you need from a grocery store: White pepper and flour.
What you need from your local farmer: Milk
What you need from your backyard: Parsley
What you need from your local forest: Porcini -mushrooms. (Dried - Spring is nettle time, autumn is for mushrooms, hence the dried mushrooms.)
What you need from your local park: Stinging-nettles
Get something like a plastic-bag full of stinging-nettles. You might want to use gloves while picking. Early in the summer, when they haven’t flowered yet and are bright green. After they flower they start to make seeds so their goodie-values diminish and they become more chewy, too. Take the leaves, ditch the stems. If they are a bit dusty or so, you can boil them quickly (max 30 secs - don’t wanna lose all dem vitamines) to clean them. If not, do the same but save the water. (For tea, if nothing else.)
When you squeeze them dry, you’ll notice you can use them just the same way as spinach. Cut it in small, chop that bunch of parsley in the mix. Put 50/50 mix of that boiled water and milk, add the nettle / parsley mix. Spice it up with some white pepper and add flour. Add the dried mushrooms and when the soup is thick enough, enjoy.
Flour and white pepper are hardly the things you need to run to the grocery store constantly for…
Of course, you can use other mushrooms you have picked. And if you have some other herbs growing on your backyard/balcony, you can use those, too.
This is vegetarian option, but for vegan option, leave the milk out and just add more water and tiny bit more flour for thickness. Soy milk should be fine, too.
Delicious!
She and ‘Daniel’ -now separated- live in northeastern Ohio.
On another note.. was this comment blog created to foster the intellectually inept with limited interaction until they’re able to join society? It’s like each comment picks up where the prior left off and you’re all taking turns creating this one huge opinion that makes no sense.
Argh!
I like what Olb said: some people just keep taking.
I totally understand why V feels the need to apologize; when one comes from a household where apologizing for the way someone else (her mother) feels was the norm, it carries with you for the rest of your life. But no one should feel obligated to fill the hole in someone else’s life.
We’re all responsible for our own fate, even if there was shitty crap in our lives once upon our time, we have to raise above it ourselves. None of us should feel the need to apologize to someone who chooses to wallow in their own self-pitty for the rest of their lives. Nobody is responsible for how we feel but ourselves.
And when V asked, did she mean “are you happy now that you talked with me ‘in private?’” or “are you happy with your life?” I wonder what answer V expected to hear when she asked if he was happy; from her description, he was obviously unhappy. Was she just hoping otherwise?
