I THOUGHT the joke was that V’s friend was so stupid that when V said “We’re calling it SIDS,” the friend didn’t notice that SIDS and infanticide aren’t the same thing. Is that possible? Joke’s on V’s idiot friend?

This is beyond stupid: it’s plain offensive. And it makes no sense.
An autopsy is MANDATORY in every state for unknown cause of death, while not in a hospital. If the coroner can’t determine the cause of death, then it is listed as “Unknown/Undetermined” not “SIDS”. Don’t believe me? Call your local Coroner’s office first thing Monday, or look up the law online. Come back with some facts, and then try to keep a straight face.

As far as searching Google for medical advice goes, please search for “auto-lobotomy” and then get back to us.

So, of course you won’t find the joke funny if you have personal experience with it. But you sound very self-righteous, as though you have never said anything that might offend somebody. So, what? Because she posts it online *that* makes her an asshole? Not that she thinks it, but that she’s willing to state it to others? That doesn’t even make sense.

I still don’t get the ‘joke’ about it, but I can deal with a bad joke. What’s pissing me off right now is the V wanna-be’s who are flipping off (and in some cases, insulting-for-the-sake-of-being-insulting) readers who feel strongly (and know a little something) about the subject of the bad joke.

It was private conversation which would not have been offensive to anyone, had it not been repeated online for reaction. So, V, are you satisfied with the reaction? Can you move on now?

I’m personally grateful for all the mothers that SIDS’ their kids. We have enough assholes in this world, and all assholes were babies once.
