When VA started ripping on mommybloggers and bitching about bad parents, she attracted a lot of readership from childless/childfree people who like what she has to say on those topics.
Then she hosts a charity contest to give money to kids. This may be a factor in the poor amount of contributions. To the childfree, the entire fucking world is set up to route money straight from people without children to people who had children they can’t afford. Welfare, Medicaid, WIC, you name it.
If VA had done “for the kittens” she’d have probably made a million bucks.
Also, nothing says inspiration more than her saying she’s going to abandon her website halfway through the challenge. I wonder of she did that on purpose just to help ensure she gets to stay anonymous.
Sibyl: Uh, I don’t have any kids. I still gave something. Not being a parent doesn’t make you less sympathetic to an organization trying to save children.
It’d help knowing how much more is needed to reach the 10K
More than 5000 dollars is needed.
And, I would have donated a lot more for kittens.
And now V does not have to post a photo of herself. How convenient, and predictable. Maybe her website time is over.
Well said Jenny, mamakitty and anon! Yeah maybe before slamming other people’s kids, she could of had the charity challenge. Nothing says Save the abused children better than some bitch slamming other children she knows nothing of - other than the fluffy blogs their mom write. Gives me the warm and fuzzys and makes me want to help HER charity cause.
I’m glad your internet grudges keep you from doing charitable things for children. I’m sure little Jimmy will think “I understand why you couldn’t help me Nyssa, someone on the internet made a joke about another kid to her mommy and her mommy got her feelings hurt” as his Mom is putting cigarettes out on his scrotum and letting the neighbor rape him to pay for her drugs.
But yea, YOU have the moral high ground here.
Say what you will, she’s done more by hosting this challenge than I’d guess any of YOU have done.
Bravo on the attempt, V. Even if the goal wasn’t made, that’s a chunk of change they wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
Frankly, I don’t like children. Most of them, anyway. I do know some decent kids. But I don’t automatically think “Children, yay”. That’s not why I didn’t donate, though. I was put off by her outright saying that small donations weren’t good enough. Well, they all add up - but not if you piss people off so that they think “Fine, screw that then” and click off to another website, taking their $10 or $20 with them.
I think this says that V attracts non charitable people more than other websites. She has a lot of visitors but not many of them gave money.
