The truck story WAS here:

Stephanie Klein's kid need a walker to learn how to walk, but she insists he is normal. Uh huh. V - if you start writing bout her again, your traffic will go way up and you'll be fun again.

You know, I'd expect this kind of [imaginary] response if the woman said "I have a 3 year old child, and I'm just tired of parenting. I think I'll buy a dog to do that for me from now on."

Maybe Mrs. Acres is at a loss for parents to berate? I have no trouble finding a score of shitty parents everytime I'm in any department or grocery store -- knocking tons of clothes off of racks, running wild, hiding inside freezer doors. Make a day of it and tell all those parents that their kids are being fuckbags, and that their parenting skills suck.

I'm a complete proponent of enlightening stupid parents that their ideas or parenting skills are lacking. I just don't think this dog email incident qualifies as "stupid parenting." The entire post makes V look desperate to critcize something, anything.

Nightlights are lame, people. The dark is for sleeping.

And WOW, dogs need training? Says who? Dogs should just run around biting and shitting and chewing and being otherwise obnoxious mammals in general.

I hope that statement comes from a serious ignorance about responsible dog ownership. Otherwise, wow. Please don't breed.

Okay, sure -- dogs are protective, dogs are fun (although I'm not really following the implication that if you have a dog, it's cool to let your kids go out and "have no idea where [they are]). But? A dog is not a cure for being afraid of the dark. That... is a pretty stupid idea. Teaching your kid how to calm himself down? Great. Buying a nightlight? Also great. Talking your child through his fears and being firm about bedtime meaning sleep? Wonderful!

... Leaving your kid alone in his scary dark room with a big toothy animal? Er, not so much. V pointed this out in a pretty over-the-top way (because, uh, she's V), but she was RIGHT. You don't take on a creature who needs to be trained, fed, loved, exercised, and cared for just to function as some sort of bizarre and dangerous teddy bear.

the only reason my 3 yr old does not have his own puppy is we are not in a place that would allow it. I grew up with a dog. Having a dog for a kid is great. The dog bonds with that kid and in a few years if he wants to take the dog for a walk around the block, God help anyone that tried to harm that kid. The dog would be barking alerting people that something is going on. The dog would protect that kid. I know I was that kid back in the day when as kids we left the house to go out and play and our parents had no idea where we were. Just having the dog deters some would be criminals that may harm your kid.

Ziah-
Yes your right we shouldn't judge V's parenting skills based on the actions of her stepchildren or whatever it is they are. But by that rationale should she not do the same for someone who sends her an email asking for a dog for their kid?

pot -> kettle -> black

Seriously, who's the moron?

Hell, who DOESN'T think about how they'd REALLY like to respond to some things. Even V has to restrain herself sometimes!

But seriously, V's right about the dog, and the parent in the post should be enlightened.

Consider that not all parents have had the benefit of good parenting examples set for them (V is a good example of this). Of course, there are straight-out idiots raising children. But where's the harm in telling the parent it's a stupid idea? Only a Retarded Parent wouldn't consider logical advice!!

I wish all of you who try to judge V's knowledge on parenting based on the stupid actions of a couple of kids she barely has any control over would realize how incredibly weak that argument is. You all sound like morons. She has no say in the discipline of her step-children. She sees them, at most, on the weekends. What exactly do you drooling nitwits expect her to do, wave a magic wand and make them well-behaved? You do realize that even good kids do highly questionable things, yes?
