My wife and I did something similar when we got married. In addition to the registry (for stuff we really needed for the house), we enclosed two cards in the invitation inviting people to give a donation instead of giving a gift or cash. We asked that donations be made to a local monastery or to an animal rescue foundation.

We actually got a lot of compliments on the creativity. But we did it because, while we needed things for the house, we wanted people to know that life isn’t all about the stuff we have, but the beings around us too.

I think its pretty lame to rip on teachers, who are generally trying their hardest to educate kids. It isn’t their fault that their classrooms are too full or they don’t have the resources they need. At least they are trying to make a difference, instead of just “losing sleep” about it.

I suspect a charity post after the revelation of just writing for traffic will have the same effect of a clown face smiling above that pledge-basket for the kids foundation near the cash registers in McDonalds. Add the fact the clown offered to pose half-nude and you’ve destroyed all hope for the kids finding a new home.

And with that other post I’m surprised nobody brought up threatening the deer with it’s IP address.

Don’t get me wrong: I’d make out with her. But damn, focus for more than 2 seconds and be serious for a minute! This is a fabulous idea, and if V blatently steals it, I’ll pony up some bucks. And not for promises of her being half-nekkid either.
