Welcome to Violent Acres Talk - the unofficial ViolentAcres.com feedback site!
This website is devoted to the wonderful (and nasty) blog of Violent Acres. Since the owner of Violent Acres doesn`t allow comments on her site, people have no way of expressing their thoughts and opinions on the blog entries (some guys even left comments on other blogs in hope the author of Violent Acres would read it).
So here it is - every entry with the same title as on Violent Acres , with link to original post and a place to leave comments. Here is posted only an excerpt from every entry because readers should read the posts only on original site! And also we don`t want anyone start bitchin about copyrights..
Go and read every single post on violentacres.com (it`s worth it :)) and if you have something to say, then do it here!
P.S. If you have any suggestions or bug reports, post them on this page. In extreme emergency you can use Contact form, but due to the huge amout of spam we already receive, it might get lost in spam-filter..

Update (12 December, 2007): Thanks to Sean Hickey there is a new feature addon - bookmark. When reading a post at Violent Acres, you can press on this bookmark/button to jump straight to the right comments page! Unfortunaately due to url structure changes this will not work on some older posts. also all post urls have changed now. Here is the bookmark, drag it to your toolbar: V.A.Talk
Update (13 July, 2007): Black friday :) We`re so generous that we added two more sections for this site: “Write to VA” - basically a place to get your own message to VA; and “Catchphrases” - a place for the best comments or cuotations on this site. Have a nice day!
Update (15 June, 2007): On June 14 the site was taken down by the hosting service “due to high CPU usage”. They made me upgrade to another hosting plan which is eight times more expensive, so I have no other options but to put some advertisements on site. Only guests will see the ads, registered users shouldn`t be affected.
Update (02 May, 2007): Had some problems with hosting, so many people didn`t receive registration emails. Now fixed, but I removed most of the unregistered users, so you can use your email again. Sorry.
Update (28 April, 2007): Registration is no more required for posting comments. We implemented a few other spam catching facilities, also some people don`t want to take the registration process.
Update (18 Mar, 2007): Header catchphrase from comments on this site
Update (10 Apr, 2007): Voting feature for comments
Update (27 Feb, 2007): Voting feature for posts
Someone needs to clean up this HTML.
happens :) Thanks!
awesome how the word “stalk” is involuntarily implicit in the domainname. :)
Strangely enough, the place we go to fix bugs contains two of them…
fix those two links in the paragraph.
fixed
Any way you could get rid of the “Violent Acres” before each post? It’s redundant and gets annoying quickly.
Love the site, great job so far.
Please please make users register before being able to post.
And maybe finding a way to ban the annoying ones and their *high-fives*? :P
Ronnie ; )
you know you love it…
Taking some sort of action against users who spam the site to shit?
http://www.violentacrestalk.com/2007/02/va-done28099t-treat-your-employer-better-than-they-treat-you/#comments
I think that’s just the community that we’re stuck with. ;) I do like the new voting feature. (That is new, right?)
dresstosurvive, yep it was new at the time you were writing.
Today I had to deal with more spam than ever, so i disabled Trackbacks.
I just threw together a tiny Greasemonkey script, the Annoying Twat Blocker. It filters out the comments by or referencing annoying twats.
Currently, the only twat is Emerild. Future functionality is planned to customize your very own list of twats!
I’d rather not have this site filter them out—that’s stifling free speech. This is just a convenience to filter out people that I don’t want to listen to. Blather all you want. I have a right to ignore you.
Wow dude/chick…
You really have a problem with me, huh?
I apologize for my lackluster standards of existence.
Just consider yourself lucky you have the right
to ignore me…
; )
@12
I would like the site to filter emerild out. He/she/it is not exercising free speech: it is just posting meaningless, random brainfarts that are taking up space on my monitor and inhibiting discussion (it’s hard to pick out a thread between huge chunks of cut and pasted poetry and random brain farts). Because of the size and frequency of of the posts it is impossible to ignore emerilds’s crap (so it’s point @13 is invalid).
It’s behaviour is is consistent, not with the exercise of free speech, but with a drunk in a bar interjecting mindless crap into conversations that other patrons are trying to have, and in a way that they can’t ignore. No-one cries ‘freedom of speech’ when the management bounces an obnoxious drunk, and such considerations don’t apply here either.
I agree I think he should be blocked it’s really annoying and it kind of ruins the site.
Damn, if all the people who voted to block V from ever having a blog because she’s annoying and it kind of ruins the intarweb got their way, we wouldn’t be having as much fun, now would we?
‘He/she/it is not exercising free speech: it is just posting meaningless, random brainfarts that are taking up space on my monitor and (it’s hard to pick out a thread between huge chunks of cut and pasted poetry and random brain farts).’
Maybe we should build more prisons and put it there…
…for ‘inhibiting discussion.’
@16
If emerild wants to write whatever it wants on its own blog, let it. But it is ruining this site. Of 35 comments currently posted on todays VA article, 20 are from this ass, including yet more (long) cut and pasted poetry/lyrics or whatever the hell they are.
This is not about freedom of speech, or about someone saying something that other users find annoying. It is about a user adding nothing to the site, saying nothing discernable, and just BEING annoying for the sake of pissing people off.
As for the prospect of emerild just changing its name: my understanding is that this can be detected. If not, require a for-real e-mail address on registration (no yahoo mail etc). I’m sure there is a way around this, but at least make the bastard work at it, rather than be able to shout la-la-la-la in my ear when I’m trying to listen to someone who has something to say.
dresstosurvive,
thanks for the work you put in on the Greasemonkey script, but I don’t want to use it. Please don’t be offended. Here are my reasons:
I take the view that security of my system on the net is best ensured by rampant paranoia. I don’t know you. I’ve no real doubts about your integrity, so.once again, please don’t be offended. As a matter of best-practice I don’t use anything on my system that doesn’t come from a ‘known-trusted source’, or which I have the expertise to inspect, and neither apply here.
Further, I don’t currently use Greasemonkey. Any piece of software carries with it it’s own security risks, therefore using software I don’t currently use, unless its purpose is specifically to improve the security of my system, degrades that security, albeit fractionally. I don’t see why I should have to make such a compromise merely to block out the pathetic bleatings of this creep stuck in infancy.
@ 18… chill dude you already got all the answers…
Let’s convert all cruise ships into jails…
and then put all the moms and dads
on ‘em.
@18 I won’t sweat it if you don’t want to use it. I really wrote it for my own sanity and released it in case anyone else wanted to. As it stands, it’s not terribly useful unless you only want to block Emerild or have the skills to screw with the JS yourself, in which case you could check for security holes.
I’m a huge advocate of free speech, even free spam. I used to do a lot of work with the Freenet Project and we couldn’t censor *anything* there, even if we thought it was wasting our time. The theory was that it was up to the viewer to filter out whatever they didn’t want to see. I take that approach to the rest of my life.
But all in all, I don’t care if anyone uses it or doesn’t want to use it.
I think the require registration thing made everyone go away. We went from 107 comments on some inane Anna Nicole post to
like 6 the next day. :(
We don’t have to deal with that douchebag anymore…or anyone else for that matter. :(
ok, no longer registration requirement.. spamfight on its way…
you could start by correcting “crowed” to “crowded” in your header…
and you could stop believing that “letter to a boy I love” post was an actual letter to an actual boy she actually loves on his actual birthday. it’s a message to another blogger. poor widdle V’s friends are picked on and she’s standing up for them, in a sad, really oblique, sideways, backwards way.
sometimes her points about SUBJECTS are right on and brilliant, but her PEOPLE are just characters, please tell me you know this.
Nobody ever knows what they’re talking about.
But nice try…
@22
Can you ban people by IP if they Emerildize the place?
(don’t really know how this stuff works)
I can’t seem to comment on the recent VA Real Estate Pet Peeves It says I must accept the privacy and terms of use. The post also lacks a ‘I’m not a spammer’ box
it should have worked fine :/ try again, i took down the checkbox system.. (spam will kill me, 4500 spams in a month :D)
@26 Can we we ban people by IP if they “Y” the place…
Oh. Nevermind, we can thumbs up or down ‘em.
C is for cookie…. That’s good enough for me.
Right…
sorry.. i was screwed up badly by hosting provider.. it seems some data is lost..
So having moved to other hosting provider I can surely say “Anhosting / Midphase sucks!”. Never choose this hosting provider! They totally screwed me up like 5 times in 3 months.
Never go for public shared hosting.
“bump” :)
