A nice gesture.
No, I call bullshit on this one.
If V does not care if we read or not, why does she all of a sudden want to be so considerate, by emailing us updates? She wants the email addresses for another reason…not sure why, but THIS is just the kind of thing V would ridicule if others did it.
not caring if it’s bullshit or not, I’ll sign up. Because I sure could use $100 at amazon. Even if I am going to be the subject of ridicule later on. And it’ll give me a nice change of scenery from ’someone commented on your livejournal entry’ or ’someone just wrote on your wall!!!!!!!!’
Besides, how do I know you’re not just calling bullshit with some sort of logical-sounding reasoning for the sole purpose of dissuading others from signing up and, hence, increasing your chances of winning? I cannot let you win so easily… ;-)
Because, uh duh Anon, she does care if she gets readers. I’m sure she doesn’t care as much as most bloggers, but if you think she doesn’t enjoy the many many clicks she has amassed, you’re wrong. Anyone would, it’s a huge ego-boost. Because, you know, V’s ego doesn’t already fill the internet tubes as it is.
She definitely seems to have bought more into the whole blogging thing lately. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean she’s posting pictures of her step-children and their adorable antics.
Also: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DEAR BABY JESUS AND SANTA I WANT THAT GIFT CERTIFICATE.
(I need a new vibrator… also, idk. $100 in internets!)
Not sure if V reads this or not, but it struck me when she said most of her rewards checks were as yet unopened. That is wasting free money, my friend. I’m sure you’re very aware that checks always have a time limit before they’re stale dated. Not counting the usual “Void after 60/90/180 days” portion of the check, many banks and financial organizations won’t take the risk on older checks. I’m sure V has a good relationship with her bank, and she doesn’t seem stupid enough to pick a bank that screws the customer, but really, at least open them, cash them in, and store them in a savings account so they can make you more money. It’s not that hard. You sign, and let go, and the bank does the rest for you. Why waste the money that’s being handed to you?
Anon: And yet you were willing to leave your e-mail address so that you could post here?
Ohh, wait, totally agree. She is just going to use our e-mail address to send us Goatsie and Lemon Party pictures, whatever you do, don’t sign up… And you won’t win anyways, she is just going to say she gave it away to someone else, and then keep it for herself…
My personal data, there you go.
Keep the $100, though.
I don’t do Christmas™.
She’s using a service provided by FeedBurner, which she’s already using to track her feed subscriptions. I don’t think she even has the option to see the email addresses of those people who signed up. So chill out. She’s just boosting her fan base.
Uh…. anyone ever heard of RSS? I never visit any blog websites. All updates get sent to my RSS Reader.
Sean: if she does not have the option to see email addresses with the service… why are we submitting them for her consideration?
Also, ditto for RSS Reader. I have a Firefox bookmark under the toolbar and it shows if theres anything new. Not convenient to see these updates cramming my Inbox but… Amazon Gift Card FTW!
Woo, I signed up, wouldn’t mind $100 bucks at Amazon one bit!
You want my identity? You can have it…
How many people actually submitted a few different e-mail addresses? Be honest!
Well I HADN’T, but thanks for the idea!!!
i’m in! **woot** now i don’t have to stalk the VA website and see what’s news! and V can ridicule me forever and ever about signing up! V can stalk me back…….get into my emails……my bank accounts…..my credit report…….my bmv records…..(uh yeah, by the way, that last ticket, uh, i have an explanation for that……..)……my flickr account and photoshop pics of my kids on the site…….maybe this is the real hollie, maybe it’s pete, maybe it’s carrie…….and my 15 minutes of fame has been brought to me courtesy of Violent Acres…….it’s bitchtastic! **AIRHORN**
So it’s not all about ‘hits’, I take it all back V, whereas before I had to check your site at least a couple of times every day to see if there were any updates now I only visit when I get the email and I guess that applies to anyone who signed up for the emial reminder.
Well!! V turns out to be a Santa bearing gifts. Who knew!
P.S. to people worried about sending their e-mails: Like you don’t ALREADY get a truck load of spam in your inbox…..what’s a few more?
