I’m hopping that V reads these comments occaisionaly and since I have no other way to contact, I guess I’ll just post this here. In a bit of coincidence I am in the early stages of researching the possibility of opening a pet foster and boarding business with an environment extremely similar to what you envision for your pet rescue. V, if you are interested in exploring whether a cooperative effort would be feaseable to realize this idea, please contact me at vamail AT thebaka DOT com, that we may discuss it further.

Some days I wish I hadn’t turned on the news or read VA because there are some things that I wish I didn’t hear. Today was one of those days, as was the day I heard about the Michael Vick thing - I hope he’s treated the same as he treated the helpless dogs. Maybe I’m strange, but while hearing about V being knocked around as a kid or hearing other such stories makes me sad, nothing breaks my heart more than cruelty to animals (well, animals and the elderly, then kids, backwards to some, I know). So defenseless. I’ve always wished I could be in a position to open the same kind of pet rescue shelter. And I’ve always thought that those capable of being cruel to an animal must be so twisted that there is just no making it right and that they should never, ever walk free again. It’s not surprising that many serial killers begin by torturing animals because I do think it’s part of the same streak inside that is just so screwed up. Anyway, if Vick does go away, and even for the full 6 years, it’s still not even close to enough. And even if V choked me up a little this time about trying to help that poor kitty, it’s nice to see this side of V.
NO amount of punishment is enough!
The sickest part of all?
He’s a rich ‘celeb’- he wont even go to jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope he suffers someday like those dogs he tortured!!!!!!
V, your mother was a sick nasty cunt. She was also evil, viscious, cruel and deserved to die a horrible painful death - alone with no comfort or comforters.
I don’t believe in hell - but if there is one I’m sure Vick will meet your evil sow mother there when he arrives.
My cousin had a dog that was bred for fighting - out of compassion she stole him as a puppy, along with his mother, from a vacant lot where they were living in an abandoned car. The owner fed them once every other day - and gave them water as seldom.
As the dog got older he developed from a cute little playful puppy into a mean tempered cur. One time - in a flash - he turned against my cousin because she was in between him and a dog he wanted to attack. My cousin wound up in the emergency room with a huge bite and bruise with superations on her upper thigh.
Although it cost my cousin a great deal of pain, she had the dog put down rather than give it away, or send it to a shelter - simply because she knew he would be turned into a fighter and die a really horrible death. Two years later she still bursts into tears if she sees a picture of the dog, or even hears his name.
Vick is innocent until proven guilty. Isn’t that the American view?
Vick is, indeed, innocent until proven guilty. However, the evidence against him seems to be (at this point in time) to be more than enough to prove his guilt.
As for the story, I know you don’t need to hear this, V, but your mother is a horrible person. I’m not entirely sure how you managed to turn out into a decent human being, but your mother deserves so many horrible things I can’t begin to list them all. Anyone who can’t spare the gas for a short drive to the vet (who will, at the least, give the animal a clean death) shouldn’t have kids, or any kind of major responsibility.
I apologize on behalf of the human race for your mother, and that kitten will haunt me tonight.
And I thought steroids were bad.
STILL DO.
Along with the Vick shit.
Every animal life matters. Every single one: http://www.unboundedition.com/content/view/1676/50/
I haven’t cried that hard in a while… V has that knack for writing that makes it impossible to turn away even when I know what’s coming.
I had to cuddle my kitties right away…
I really hate people. I wish penalties for animal abuse, particularly in cases such as Vick’s, were as harsh as human abuse.
V, if you read this… I’m glad you found that kitten. Even after what happened, at least it had somebody care for it. You did everything you could - and the end result probably would have been the same, or worse.
I really hope you realize your dream. It’s one of few causes I support and encourage.
Nothing to say about most of what’s there that hasn’t been said. I don’t accept excuses for cruelty to critters either, and I’m still not finding anything nice to say about your mother.
Small piece about the maggots, fwiw, is that, if you have maggots in a wound, leave them alone. Maggots can only eat dead and rotting flesh, so they will clean out the wound and protect it from nasty things that can result from the dead and rotting flesh. When they’re done, they’ll leave, and the healing can start.
Totally beside your point, but it’s something good to know.
That last post compelled me to donate to my local Humane Society again. It had been on my mind lately but her post drove home the problem with inaction, ie: thinking of doing something and actually doing it.
Go to http://www.bestfriends.org. They have already done what you envision.
Ben (#5) - you’re the only voice even close to approximating reason that I’ve seen here regarding this post. Do none of you recall the Duke Lacrosse case that happened only months ago? Do you not remember the Centiennal Olympics Park “bomber” Richard Jewell? Let the f#cking facts come to light before you pass judgement. We like to champion our fairness in this country, yet I seem to see a ginormous lack of it actually being practiced. You all have heard of Richard Jewell, but can you actually name the person who really planted the bomb without resorting to research? I could not, even though I tirelessly use him as an example of this sort of BS.
I separated these two comments so that the importance of the previous one would not be buried by this part which, given the previous posts, will be viewed as more heretical than Martin Luther’s original theses.
How in the hell have we come to the point where letting animals do what they naturally are prone to do, in a controlled setting, is a crime worse than being fat? Because people bet money??? Fatness will be killing more people for the next hundred years than animals, by a factor of more than 100. I’ll bet on that without even researching the facts.
Let me quote some of your “logic” on the issue. Maggie says “Maybe I’m strange, but while hearing about V being knocked around as a kid or hearing other such stories makes me sad, nothing breaks my heart more than cruelty to animals…” Perhaps I’m the first to say that no, it doesn’t make you sad, you’re fucking retarded. Abused children are unfortunate, but pit bulls killing each other makes your heart bleed more? What fucking planet are you from? Poor people (vs those who can afford a decent lawyer) being put on death row should be orders of magnitude higher on your list of grievances than some piece of shit animals!!! Cuddly baby animals are great, but let nature run its course and those fuckers will eat you for lunch. Am I the only one who watches Animal Planet??? How about the polar bear baby that was in the news recently, his name is Knut, he was a cuddly cute little thing. Unfortunately, he was a damn polar bear, and his “surrogate” mother had to stop his role because, you know, it was a polar bear and it had become dangerous.
I’ll skip the Walt post because it’s just retarded and sensationalist without any redeeming qualities.
Then we come to richbh’s account. Finally, some apparently real-world experience. Take a look, teens! The shiny puppy doesn’t turn out to be a super-pet! Not only that, but she had the dog “put down” to save it from a horrible fate…of perhaps winning its fight (approximately a 50/50 proposition) and staying alive. Thank god she gave it a 100% chance of ending up dead. The only difference between that and the *alleged* dogs in this case is the method of execution - let me remind you that we use both electrocution and the “humane” method of lethal injection on humans here in the USA. Ahhhhh! The stench of burning flesh…er…I mean moral superiority.
Blah, blah, blah. The rest of these posts really piss me off. Human genocide in the world…rampant stupidity abounds, but we all pretend we’re not the stupid ones. It’s always the other person who’s stupid. Even little dogs bite kids, we eat kosher food (ritualistically killed animals) but somehow it’s different becaue they aren’t cute.
@13 - That’s more a reflection of media coverage than anything. The cases you’ve brought up were ones where allegations was the main “evidence”. Haven’t paid attention to Vick’s case, but from what has been said here sounds like there’s more evidence than allegations at this point. And I don’t think “fairness” has been one of the things championed in this country for a while. There are people screaming for it, but we’ve pretty much turned a blind eye to it.
@14 - No, you’re not a martyr, nor did #13 have anything more intelligent than #14 (other than pointing out the fact of perceived “fairness, albeit with poor support.)
What animals naturally do, like humans, is strive to survive. And what’s the main thing animals do to survive? Avoid fights. So no, putting them in a situation to fight each other is not natural. Nor is breeding them to attack on sight. You’re using an apples to oranges comparison with your “fatness” argument. If people were being *forced* to be fat, then sure. But that is not the case. Nor would I say weighing an actually ton is “natural”.
@re: Maggie - I think you’ve misinterpreted her intended words. But you’re using it to make a point, so I’ll pretend that it was her intention to say that animals are above children:
If you read the next part, “So defenseless.” maybe you’ll see why its easier to feel sad for an animal than a kid? We’ve bred animals to depend on us for survival. This makes them no better than an infant. With people, we have resources that will defend ourselves. So you have a situation where the victim is a) perpetually dependant OR b) temporarily dependant. “a” will win out.
@ re: Walt - So is your post.
@ re: richbh - Good point on the 50/50 chance of living vs. 100% dead. Problem is, they’d be living in an environment where they’d be neglected and probably with significant amounts of injuries throughout their life. And if it was freed/escaped? Then chances are humans will be hurt. And what is your point on electrocution and lethal injection? Animals get put down with lethal injection too. And electrocution for humans have been fought against for a long time, just certain people don’t want the “expense” of lethal injections. You can thank our economic sense for that. (And again, I think you’ve misinterpreted the words, as putting the dog down was to prevent it from potentially hurting other humans, not to keep it from dog fights, though that is a side “benefit”.)
Yes, there’s genocide in the world, but that wasn’t what the original topic was about. You had some valid points, but you presented yourself no better than how you perceive the other posts. Half of your arguments don’t apply properly or is based in poorly interpreted information. Some even conflict with your own arguments on some level. Please learn to argue your opinions better before you start championing them, as all it does is work against you when you sound like a fool.
Need ya’ll need a reminder that we are ALL animals. Name calling is lame. This site is beyond words.
I hesitate to bring up a semi-lame ’80s movie, but…
“Be excellent to each other.”
That includes the whole animal “kingdom,” including humans.
All of your arguments seem to move toward the idea that “I am right and you are wrong.” Self esteem boost? I don’t claim to know.
Why is it that we spend so much time focusing on our differences as opposed to our similarities?
PS
Some say vegetables have feelings too, so according to that philosophy, unless we live on fruit and nuts alone… we’re all just silly. Just throwin’ that out there to the argumentators.
Funnily enough, those maggots were good. They were eating all dead flesh and thereby would prevent further infection / gangrene.
@17 - I think that extends to all plants, not just vegetables. Then there are the microbes. So in reality, unless we sustain ourselves on pure artificial chemicals, some “life” will be consumed. And even then, where would we be getting the ingredients from?
Speaking of fruits and nuts…the world’s like a bowl of granola, its full of flakes, nuts, and fruits.=)
You know, I’m not defending Michael Vick at all; But in this country everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and he hasn’t even had a trial yet. No one knows if he was actually a part of the whole scandal. Apparently it was done on property he owned, but his cousin lived on it, not him. So it IS possible that he’s innocent.
The likely hood of that? Slim. But I’m just saying that as of right now he is considered innocent in the law’s eyes. Don’t string up a man without a fair trial first.
Most likely, Vick is guilty of everything he’s charged with but if there is anything we should’ve learned from the Duke Lacrosse case its that the media and the public are far to willing to condemn people with only the facts they’re given and without letting the legal process run its course.
Good luck with your animal shelter.
@22 No shit and Ha!.. all at the same time.
Alright V, I 2nd 23… now write something else. This thread has run it’s course.
Also, @ 22 You assume every “case” is given a “legal” process, I can guarantee you that is far from reality. Sometimes, mob rules. Actually, I’ve experienced it and continue to.
Good luck even vaguely comprehending what I say.
Excuse me V and friends, but 9 out of 10 folks have no idea.
Write something in which you try to see things from more than your own perspective. Just one try. That’s all I ask. I don’t expect any sign of objectivity, but hey…. Give it your best.
The legal process is based off 12-13 people who have nothing better to do than to sit and listen to 2 lawyers interpret the law the best they can towards their side and given information that the select few decide to give, and then making an opinion on that. The only difference of that and general public view is they get to make their defensive case, and more often than not, the defensive case has to depend on technicalities.
@25 - Democracy is mob/majority rules. And all “objective” views are based off subjective views anyways.
Jesus, V, please tell us what happened to your mother to make her such a cunt.
#5 Ben wrote: “Vick is innocent until proven guilty. Isn’t that the American view?”
Is it? Let’s see:
Karma –4
I guess not. Guilty until proven innocent, more likely.
My god. What a horrible story. As if the kitten wasn’t bad enough, it shouldn’t overshadow what a horrible bitch your mother was. It sort of explains why you are so mean spirited most of the time. At least I know now that you have a soft spot for animals. Maybe there is a little humanity in you.
Didn’t you know? Mikey Vick adopted solely from special animal shelters just to get in that extra layer of spite with his puppy killings.
I think you should have called the police the first time your mom ever abused an animal, plus the boy that killed the kitten should be thrown in prison for the rest of his wretched life.
